My goal as a designer and creative consultant is to cut away all the baggage and clutter that surrounds a brand in order to showcase what is truly essential and necessary in support of a design. I’ve found that the only way to truly do this effectively starts by listening to the people who engage with the brand on a regular basis, the employees who operate as the face of the brand, and the client for whom the brand represents their livelihood and daily sacrifice. Ultimately my work is not done until both the people employed by the brand and the people purchasing the brand both buy into what I make.
In the course of any project, I prefer to lay out all the pieces in front of me and metaphorically sift my fingers through them, finding useful and harmonious pieces of content and fitting them together like a puzzle. I prefer not to limit the scope of tools at my disposal to do this, instead favoring a message first approach. Whether that requires responsive UX or 3D modeling is up to the message and the desired audience. To that end, I find I’m equally at home in web, mobile, print, broadcast, illustration…whatever best suits the end goal.
